TMCore SharePoint Module
Social Tagging
In addition to the formal ontology and taxonomies that drive the portal architecture, the TMCore SharePoint Module also supports the addition of user-generated tagging of content. Tags provide a simple means for users to quickly organise content using their own terms and concepts and then to share that tagging with their colleagues and with other portal users.
The TMCore SharePoint Module provides integrated menus that allow users to tag any SharePoint list item or document, and web parts that can be embedded into pages to enable either page editors or even the page viewers to add their own tags to a page. Additional web parts are designed to be integrated into the MOSS MySite sites and display a user's tags and enables users to form their own social networks with whom they can share their tagging.
The tagging created by users, and the social networks that they participate in are all recorded in the topic map, enabling the folksonomy of user-generated tags and the social organisation of users into networks to be exploited in topic map queries and in the other standard TMCore SharePoint Module findability tools.
